Smoothie's are one of the fastest and easiest ways to get all the good stuff in one place. Why drink coffee when you can get an energy boost full of adrenal supporting nourishment that you can feel immediately, being oh so easily digestible and all. I'm trying to train my brain...no, I Am training my brain to think this way whenever my energy levels start fighting me. Apple cider vinegar is another great pick me up option that gives your body what it actually wants. A good replacement for caffeine and sugar addicts, and anyone really. Of course if your smoothie consists of pasteurized dairy and fractionalized foods, you're only encouraging the drain.
So nobody tells me I can't add whatever I want to my smoothie. This sort of reminds me of a phase I went through as a kid when I got really into cooking and experimenting with my very own concoctions. I remember one particular occasion I was feeling exceptionally gutsy with a food type/smoothie type/beverage sort of thing I was whipping up with lots of imagination power. I think it had some fruit in it, some liquids (I can't exactly remember), and a stick of butter. Well I don't easily give up on making my drinks clump free but this one was tricky and there just wasn't much of a way to get the curdles out. I didn't really realize that was key until I was drinking it. A big disappointment. I guess I've learned some things since then. Although I still sometimes miss my mouth while I'm eating. Oh but that's what smoothies are for! You can't miss.
So in this lump free version I've got 1 banana, frozen blueberries, hemp milk with cocoa, 1stick of butter (just kidding), 1 scoop of Brendan Braziers protein powder made of pea, hemp, sacha inchi, alfalfa, and brown rice proteins...1 tsp vitamineral green powder, 1 tsp mesquite powder, 1 tsp of Maca, a few cups of water, and some ice. Matt and I shared this before our hike and felt totally sustained throughout the day. The maca is my favorite ingredient and one that I have a teaspoon of on a daily basis. Its everything your hormones and energy levels ever wanted to be.

Stick of butter!!!! Lol
ReplyDeleteoh, and i disagree. Smoothies can go terribly wrong. I learned this when I was trying to get as many green leafies in mine as I could. Oh! And i learned it when I used vitamineral green and it rehydrated and got all gelatinous when I didn't drink it fast enough. Adding ice probably would have been a good idea in those early smoothies. Which for some reason reminds me! I still have the juicer you gave me! I'm having fresh oj and parsley juice tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteOk so things we need to watch out for while makingsmoothies, green leafies and butter! See, I can learn really good!
